There is a wide range in the varieties of rice in the Asian market.What makes one variety different from another, depends on the price, type of cooking required and the like.When to use particular rice variety and how it will cook is always a question we receive from consumers.Here is a brief explanation of the varieties of rice available as well as the QFT brands available in the market (Mainly Carrefours)

  •          Super Kernel Basmati Rice
  •          Basmati PK 385
  •          Irri-9 White Rice
  •          Irri-6 White Rice
  •          Par Boiled Rice


Super Kernel Basmati Rice.
It is cultivated in the Kaalar Belt (Narowal, Baddomalhi, Narang Mandi etc.), a well-known/ famous area in Punjab (Pakistan) for producing excellent quality of Basmati Rice since the last many decades. This area (Known as Rice Bowl in the delta of river Ravi & river Chenab and feet of Great Hamalya- Series of world's highest mountains) has special characteristics of ideal temperature, humidity level and a unique combination of warm short days and cool long nights during developing stage of grains (September & early October) for producing best quality of Basmati Rice.

The second very favorable thing in this area for cultivation of rice is the largest irrigation system in the world that provided adequate water during the hot summer.

Basmati is the finest variety of rice. Characterized by a unique aroma, extra length and slender grain, Basmati tastes delicious. To reach your taste buds as an exquisite delicacy. Extra long, Slender, Thin, aromatically flavored Basmati Rice. Distinct in fragrance & taste it can easily turn the most boring of food preparations into exciting delicacies. Our Basmati Rice has to be tasted to be believed. The grain becomes two-three times longer on being cooked. The grain characteristics are as follows:

Quality:- 100% pure grade, aromatic, extra long grain premium quality, very well cleaned, milled standard polished, free from paddy, dust, bran, good cooking grade, extra delicious, non sticky quality and free from any other foreign matter.

  •     Origin:- Pakistan
  •     Crop:- Current & Last Year. Both year crops are available.
  •     Broken:- 2 to 5%.
  •     Packing:- In 45 to 50 Kgs Double Jute Bags. In 1,2,5,10 Poly Bags.

 
Basmati PK 385
Pakistani Basmati PK-385 is selected from extra quality of paddy, it has been harvested by hand in an area that has unique soil and climatic characteristics, Basmati PK-385 the worlds unique quality of rice due to its natural aroma and delicious taste.

Quality:- 100% pure grade, aromatic, long grain, very well cleaned, milled standard polished, free from paddy, dust, bran, good cooking grade, non sticky quality and free from any other foreign matter.

  •     Crop:- Current & Last Year. Both year crops are available.
  •     Broken:- 2 to 5%.
  •     Packing:- In 45 to 50 Kgs Double Jute Bags.


Irri 9 White Rice

This variety is grown in both the Sindh and Punjab provinces in Pakistan. The grain characteristics are as follows:

    Quality:- Long grain, well cleaned milled standard polished.

  •     Crop:- Current & Last Year. Both year crops are available.
  •     Broken:- 5 to 10%.
  •     Packing :- In 50 Kgs Single PP Bags


Irri 6 White Rice
This is the low priced, high volume rice. This variety is grown in the Sindh province of Pakistan and is a major export quality to a number of Middle Eastern and African Ports.A strong demand of these varieties due to its excellent pricing has arisen from new markets including the CIS and Iran. The grain characteristics are as follows:

    Quality:- Long grain, well cleaned milled standard polished.

  •     Crop:- Current & Last Year. Both year crops are available.
  •     Broken:- Different Broken % is available as per requirement.
  •     Packing :- In 50 Kgs Single PP Bags.


Parboiled Rice
A process of soaking, pressure steaming and drying prior to milling produces parboiled Rice. This modifies the starch and permits the retention of much of the natural vitamins and minerals in kernels.The rice is usually slightly yellowish, although the color largely fades after cooking. It cooks up fluffy and separate. There are three types of Parboiled Rice:

  •     Parboiled (Sella) Basmati Rice
  •     Parboiled (Sella) Irri-9 Rice
  •     Parboiled (Sella) Irri-6 Rice
